The moon shone bright
that Halloween night
when me and you
and the others too
realized that all was not right.
Still, onward we played,
long after my smile decayed...
Until we ceased and split
for we needed to sit
under the moon and the willow shade.
It was just you and I now,
and I'm not sure how,
but even with you next to me,
I felt utterly lonely.
...But that secret wasn't to be said aloud.
Not until now and here.
For, my dear,
we've grown apart
and it's breaking my heart.
...This means good-bye, I fear.
I loved you then and I love you still.
Always have, always will.
But I need time alone
to be on my own
and think about how I feel.
